Our unique way of working

We do not take a 'one size fits all' approach. You are unique and so is your baby. This requires coordination. ... coordination by someone with experience. He knows which factors are important when making a plan that suits you.

Pregnancy

To take a good look at your personal situation, we do an extensive intake interview. Here, we take the time to get to know each other well and ask you questions to see what is needed to properly monitor your health and that of the baby. Our appointments take longer than what is standard in the Netherlands. No 10-15 minute checks! This way, we really have the time to get to know you and adapt care to your needs. Do you want more or fewer appointments? That is always possible.

Prenatal screening

In the Netherlands, everyone has the right to prenatal screening. Prenatal screening is research into abnormalities in the unborn baby. Your midwife will ask if you want more information about this and will discuss your options with you. She will support you in making the choice whether or not to participate in the various studies.

Prenatal screening consists of two separate parts: Screening for Down Syndrome, Patau Syndrome and Edward Syndrome (NIPT)
Structural ultrasound examination (13 and 20 weeks of ultrasound)

Gynecologist at the office

Sometimes it happens that a pregnancy needs an extra look from a gynecologist. For example, if you have already had a complicated previous pregnancy or delivery. We will then refer you to a gynecologist. A gynecologist is also present at our practice every 6 weeks to do office hours. She will then do this together with your own midwife in your familiar practice!

Birth plan

Birth is never the same. Everyone has a unique experience. To maximize the chance of a positive experience, write a birth plan. Unrealistic? No, not at all!

We have the experience that if you write down your first choices, how you want to be approached and how you want to deal with unexpected situations, you are much more empowered and better prepared. Your partner also knows what's important to you, and so do we. Win-win!
