Breech position
During pregnancy, your baby may lie in a breech position. If this is still the case at 34 weeks, you might consider a 'version'.

During pregnancy, your child can lie in your womb in many ways. Early in pregnancy, almost all children are in a breech or transverse position. At some point, most babies turn their heads down. Nevertheless, 3 to 4 percent of the babies stay with their heads at the top. And then?
Have you ever heard of spinning babies? And what about moxa therapy? These are actions that can cause the baby to choose to turn to head position. Spinning Babies are postures and exercises that you can do that stimulate the baby's position. Moxa therapy can also be a way for the baby to move more and, if possible, turn into a head position. In practice, we like to work with Amber, she offers a bounce consultation where she looks at your situation and uses these tools to encourage the baby to lie down with her head down.
Is your baby in a breech position at 34 weeks and have you already tried the above? Then you can come to us to discuss the various options and next steps. The first step is then an external version. This is a medical procedure performed by Sarah, our versionist. She tries to turn the baby externally, via the belly, to a head position. We understand that this can be quite exciting. Good preparation, a calm atmosphere, plenty of time and a holistic approach make this action more pleasant.
Are you a client at another midwifery practice? Even then, you are more than welcome.
Should you prefer to do the version in the hospital or do you have a medical indication? We have a great collaboration with the Ikazia hospital in Rotterdam, which also has an expert version of team babies.
